FaZe, OpTic and NiP Amongst Teams to Advance to IEM Oakland CS:

  • The group phase of the $300, 000 IEM Oakland CS: GO event has come to a close with a total of 6 teams advancing to the single-elimination playoff bracket.
To say that there have been a few surprise results during the round-robin best of one group stage matches would be a serious understatement.
Whether it be Gambit’s 16-3 stomping of FaZe Group or Tyler ‘Skadoodle’ Latham systematically picking SK Video gaming apart to give Cloud9 the 16-7 win over the team that won EPICENTER 2017 just last month.
The idea system introduced by ESL for the tournament gave teams 3 points for a win, 2 points for an overtime win, 1 point to have an overtime loss, and 0 points for a loss in regulation time.
This performed a huge part in shaping the way that the groups ultimately looked as five video games went to overtime and, making almost any scenario possible as the last games of the group were played out.
Ultimately the biggest losers were certainly Astralis who were forced to play with their coach in the first match of the tournament due to health issues for Nicolai ‘device’ Reedtz.
The Danish team struggled on day one despite device arrived off of their long haul flight, losing to both NiP and Cloud9 before bouncing back towards EnVyUs.
On day 2 the former Major Champions mounted an epic comeback to CSGO M4A4 Skins win in overtime against SK Gaming after that demolished The Mongolz.http://www.csgo4skin.com
